“Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning.” -Bill Gates
Many people make an impact in the world but Bill Gates has made a bigger one than others. Bill Gates should get the Nobel Peace Prize because he is a humanitarian that works toward the issues of world hunger, health and education which are some of the qualifications. Here are some other reasons why Bill Gates should win the Nobel Peace Prize.
Bill Gates was born in Seattle, Washington on October 28th in 1955. As a kid Bill Gates liked to surround himself with “smart” people. Bill, his parents and his sisters played board games which included Risk which was Bill’s favorite. Bill was very competitive as a child. Bill’s family was very wealthy and his grandfather founded Seattle’s First National Bank. Computers became an obsession at age 13. Bill Gates went to a private boarding school called “Lakeside” High School. His parents sent him there so he could be more challenged. After graduation In 1973, he entered Harvard because he was so smart but he was more interested in learning about computers! In 1973, he discovered the Altair 8800 kit that could build a computer for only $399. Bill was excited because he knew computers needed software to run them, so he wanted to write programs.
Gates worked hard on writing a software program with his friend Paul Allen. They sold their first program called BASIC to the Altair company. He did not graduate from Harvard because of his success writing software. Thus Microsoft was born in April 4,1975. Microsoft changed the way we work, learn and live because of the technology they put into our lives. Some of the most popular Microsoft products include Xbox and Windows. Bill Gates was called “The Software King”. Microsoft became one of the most successful and fastest growing companies in the world. This made Bill Gates one of the richest men in the world. His net worth is 79.3 billion U.S. Dollars.
Bill Gates knows with wealth comes responsibility and he wants to help people. Bill Gates married Melinda French and in 2000 they started the foundation called The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Which they started because of an article they read sometime in 1997.
The foundation gives money to support libraries and give internet access to people in poor areas. The foundation also works towards supporting innovative ideas that help kids learn and graduate.
Later on they also helped with world hunger and diseases and still do.The foundation provides food, shelter, health and medical services. They also provide funds to work on vaccines for Polio, Tuberculosis, Malaria, HIV and Pneumonia. Their main focus is on vaccine, drug discovery, mom/child health and control of diseases in impoverished areas. They also deliver vaccines and drugs to poor countries.
They also use science and technology to save lives in developing countries by providing innovative ways such as using better seeds to increase agricultural production. The goal is to sustain the development so impoverished communities can thrive.
Bill Gates is a famous humanitarian who started an international organization and is a part of something bigger than himself. His commitment to education, global health, and global development make him an excellent candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize. The smart and curious Bill Gates deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his tremendous hard work to make the world a better place.
