Mood of the Novel
The mood of this novel is funny and exciting. In each chapter of this novel you do not know what to expect from the characters. There will be times that you will get frustrated because you don't understand why they did that and you wont want to let the book down.
- Colin meets Lindsey's boyfriend Colin who is the total opposite of him.
- Colin tells the other Colin a fake name so there wont be any problems.
- Hassan has never had a girlfriend.
- Lindsey's grandfathers company makes tampon strings.
Even though some situations in life look like they wont have any positive income there is always a reason why it occurred.
“Do you ever wonder whether people would like you more or less if they could see inside you? But I always wonder about that. If people could see me the way I see myself—if they could live in my memories—would anyone, anyone, love me?"
“I don't think your missing pieces ever fit inside you again once they go missing.”
“How do you just stop being terrified of getting left behind and ending up by yourself forever and not meaning anything to the world?”
“You can never love someone as much as you miss them.”
“What is the point of being alive if you don't at least try to do something remarkable?”
Most of the quotes talk about how it is important to try to do something that will make you be remembered. In The Fault in Our Stars the second main character, Augustus Waters fears oblivion, the state of being completely forgotten or unknown. This shows that the author, John Green, in some of his novels he always has a character that doesn't want to be forgotten, that wants to leave his mark on the world. This shows that John Green may want to do something that will be remembered.
Why I Liked it
I liked this novel because it is not like all of the normal romantic books, It is different in a good way. For the first time i saw in this book that math may not be only used for school. To me it is very interesting how Colin tries to predict the future of relationships with a math formula.
*Colin made this formula to find out the dumpee of any relationship and see how long that relationship will last.*
