Henry Highland Garnet

He was born on December 23, 1815. He died February 13 1882. He was born into slavery but then escaped a covered wagon and escaped to freedom. He worked as a minster then later became a strong civil rights activist.
He supported for free blacks to go to Mexico, Liberia or the West Indies.
He helped create the American and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society. Went overseas and spoke about slavery in the U.S.
