52 IN 52

The 52 Albums that define my love for music

Week 34/ Album 34

Who: Bracket - "4 Wheel Vibe"

When: 1995

Why: As I started looking into owning every album on Fat Wreck Chords, that started with my favorite song on the "Fat Music for Fat People" compilation, "2Rak005" by Bracket. While that song didn't end up being on this album, it didn't matter because this album became one of my favorite (and still is) punk rock record of all time.

When: It truly bums me out that I've never seen them live. They're one of the only bands left that I love that I never got to see.

This record is the laziest punk rock record. Bracket did an amazing job of making fast songs sound slow, which probably has to do with the way Marty sings.  They aren't like other punk bands that followed the same formula. They had their own style, and never really veered off of that course.

Bracket resonated with some of my friends, but not all. I'd like to believe that Bracket was a well kept secret that only some people knew of.  My buddy Nate and I  wore this CD out multiple times, but we never got sick of it.

They put out 3 other great punk rock records, but this record is the one that has held up completely throughout the years.

This record is a time warp. It takes me back to a time in my life that I had nothing to do but hang out with friends and do dumb shit.

This song sums up Bracket's sound.

Oh, and here is the song that started it all.
