Geography of Columbia

        A part of the geography is the Andean region. The Andes Mountains enter Columbia on the south-west part of the country. The mountains split into two chains; the Cordillera Occidental and the Cordillera Central. There is also the Caribbean region that is located to the north of the Andean region.  The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain range is part of Caribbean region and it's highest peak is Simon Bolivar and Cristobal Colon. There is also the Pacific Coast Region that is to the west of the Andes mountains. In the Pacific Coast region there is the Buado and the Pacific mountain ranges. The Amazon region is also located in Columbia and contains an area of rain forest.

      In Columbia they use pesos as their currency. One U.S. dollar is equal to 2,060 Columbian pesos. Columbia uses 100, 200, 500 peso coins and 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, and 50,000 peso bills.  The Columbian peso symbol is similar to the U.S. dollar sign except has two lines instead of just one.

      The music of Columbia is divided into 4 regions. The four regions include the Atlanic and the pacific coast, the Andean, and the eastern plain regions. In the Atalantic Coast region the music has vibrant rhythms. In the Pacific Coast region the music has a strong use of drums and has some spanish influence. The Andean region of Columbia has music influenced by spanish rhythms. The Eastern Plain region has music accompanied by a harp, a cuarto and maracas.

    Some of Columbia's main exports include coffee, oil, fruits, flowers, iron, steel, cotton, and leather. Some of Columbia's main imports are machinery, chemicals, and transport equipment.

    Columbia has a Unitary republic government. Like the U.S. Columbia has a president elected to four year terms and the legal age to vote is 18.
