# Solving Systems of Linear Equations

### Bellwork: 1. Solve for y in the following:  3x-y=82. Sketch a graph of the following: 2x+6y=12

HMMMM....

Suppose, that you starting a catering company. The first thing you must do is find transportation for your food to all the events. Two transportation companies have made you an offer! Peter's Pick Up will charge you .40 per mile traveled and a flat fee of \$68. Helen's Haulers will charge you .65 per mile and a flat fee of \$23.

1. Why would you want to compare the two companies?

2. What are some ways that you could figure out the cheapest company?

3. What are some other scenarios that where you might have the same dilemma?

Objectives:

1. Define a system of linear equations

2. Graph systems of linear equations

3. State the solution to a system of linear equations

Group Rules:

1. Each teammate participates in the discussion.

3. Attempt each problem in the order it was written!

Consequence: If you choose to not follow the group rules, you will have to complete the activity by yourself and you will not be allowed to participate in the game show.
