The sun is in the heart of our solar system, it helps sustain life on earth by giving light and heat. It takes 8 minutes for it's light and heat to reach Earth. The sun is also the largest body in the solar system. The planets orbit the sun. The sun puts out light and heat because burning helium and hydrogen. It is made of multiple layers they are called, the solar interior the radiative zone, convective zone, and the solar atmosphere above consists the photosphere , chromosphere , a transition and corona. Beyond that is the solar wind, an outflow of gas from the corona. The sun also has cooler spots on it called sunspots but they are still very hot. Sunspots cause solar flares, they are eruptions of high powered energy. The sun's mass is 1.989E30 kg.The sun does not have a rotation or revolution. Fun fact did you know 1,300,000 Earths can fit in the sun. Also The sun is 5,778 Kelvin on the surface.
