The Excretory System
The excretory system is responsible for taking the unneeded stuff from food and drinks and turn it into waste. Then, remove the waste from the body.
Here are the organs in the excretory system:
Kidneys: The kidneys filter blood and make the waste into urine. Then, they divert the urine to the bladder. They also absorb amino acids, glucose, and water.
Liver: The liver detoxifies and breaks down chemicals that are ingested into the body such as alcohol or drugs. It also break down fats into unusable waste and usable fats.
Bladder: The bladder stores waste that the kidneys excrete. In order to store the urine, the bladder has to be hollow and elastic.
Lungs: The lungs are part of the respiratory system, but also has a function in the excretory system because it excretes CO2 from the body.
Skin: The skins sole purpose in the excretory system is to excrete sweat from the body.
