Why I Should Have A Phone

by Sky Hume

Just a few generations ago, tween kids didn't need phones. But our world as we know it is changing, and phones are becoming more and more necessary. Here are some reasons why  a phone would make everything easier and more convenient.

Since I am older and more responsible, I now have a lot more opportunities and things that I should be able to do. For example, biking around the neighborhood by myself, going to friends houses more often, and other things like that. All of that would be made so much easier if I had a way to contact you, such as a cell phone. Then, I wouldn't have to call you from my friends house, I could just send you a text. Also, I could go places by myself, such as BerryBlendz, Dairy Queen, or 7-Eleven.

Another reason that a phone would be convenient is that my original plans may change. Maybe I was supposed to stay after school with someone from my softball team and then walk over to practice, but then they went home sick and I didn't want to stay at school for an hour by myself. I could just text you to explain what's going on and you could come pick me up, or maybe you could come and help me practice pitching or batting or something like that. Or maybe I was supposed to go to sixth grade book club but it got cancelled and you weren't planning to pick me up until 5. I could call you and ask you to come pick me up early. If I had a phone, all of this would be so much simpler.

(Just to put it out there, a gold iPhone 5s would be awesome...)
