Vivian Malone was born in Mobile, Al on July 15,1942. She is best known for becoming the one of the first black students to enroll at the University of Southern Alabama. Although at first she was denied registration to the university. She went on to become the first black graduate of the University.
Malone's mother and father worked at an airforce base. Her father worked as a janitor and her mother worked as a domestic servant. She was discriminated against by the governor of Alabama who called her an intruder on the campus. Her bravery was applauded by many of the whites students at the university. She graduated in 1965 with a b-plus average and received her bachelors in buisness management.
