Art seemed to be a thing that thrived in Picasso's family. Pablo's father, José Blasco, happened to be a painter as well. His paintings however, were not as praised as Pablo's. During the time, works of history were more popular in the art industry. Anything that depicted otherwise was of no interest. His father would paint animals, but it gained not near as much recognition as Pablo's paintings, for he liked to stick to the history theme in order for people to take a liking to his paintings. He did as well. His first two major paintings occurred when he was around 59 years of age. His idea was to keep a child like inspiration within his pieces to show the creativity, but also keep a sophisticated meaning behind it. His paintings really began taking off in the early 1900's when his style changed to romance. This became the world renowned artist we know today.
