The Fault in Our Stars
or The greatest book you'll ever read!
The story of Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters will transform you.
SERIOUSLY. The two protagonists (That's right, I said TWO) are incredibly funny, mature, sarcastic...oh, AND the both have cancer. AND a one-eyed friend named Isaac. (Yep. Cancer destroyed Isaac's eye, but not his mad skills at video games!)
That being said, Hazel and Augustus DO NOT complain and talk about how horrible they have it. Nay - instead, they CELEBRATE and give thanks for the incredible gifts they have been given. Enjoy their journey with me as you explore the content on this page. By the end, you just might love them too!
Wow. Where to begin? How about "The Unique Struggles of Isolation." Yes, they have friends and engage in some "normal" activities, but their illnesses separate them from most other people. Add that to their physical limitations, and they find themselves in a world that is oftentimes very, very lonely.
Recognition of Mortality. We're all going to die at some point, but Death follows Hazel and Augustus on a daily basis. Even as they go play video games, flirt, and fall in love for the first time, they are majorly aware of their own mortality and the fact that a relapse could occur anytime. That makes them appreciate their time on earth even more. (Which might also be why their parents allow Augustus to take Hazel on a romantic, exotic get-away to Australia of all places in order to meet the introverted, cray-cray shut-in author of Hazel's favorite book!)
There are other themes as well, but I don't want to ruin the excitement for you, just "Pull you in" a bit!
AND YOU CAN KEEP ADDING MORE STUFF!!! It's ENDLESS!
