Ponds, lakes, streams, and rivers are freshwater ecosystems. They are called freshwater because their water is not salty. An ecosystem includes all living and nonliving things in an area. Water is a compound made of hydrogen and oxygen. Ecosystem is all living and nonliving things in an area that interact with each other.
