The Earth's Atmosphere
by Audrey Harris
this is the Earths atmosphere. The Earths atmosphere has five layers that saves us from rocks and junk flying threw space.
This is the Troposphere and it is the first layer of the earth's atmosphere. The Troposphere is where planes fly. Troposphere contains 75% of the atmosphere's mass. The temperature in the troposphere can be -80*c. It is also 10 miles from the equator.
This is the stratosphere it is the second to the first layer of the earth's atmosphere. This layer is absorbing ultraviolet radiation from the sun. The stratosphere is warm in the upper layer because of the radiation from the sun. Within this layer the temperature increases by 270 k ( - 3*c or 26.6* f ).
this is the Mesosphere. The mesosphere is the third to the first layer of the earth's atmosphere. The word Mesosphere means middle, and the mesosphere is in the middle of the earth's atmosphere. The temperature in the mesosphere is usually below 130k (- 226*F ; -143*C . Mesosphere is (160,000 ft; 31 mi) above the Earth's surface.
This is the Thermosphere, it is the fourth to the first layer of the earth's atmosphere. During the day the gas in this layer can reach up to 2,500 °C (4,530 °F) . The Thermosphere begins about 85 kilometres from the earth's surface. The Thermosphere is ultraviolet from the sun so the Thermosphere is very hot.
This is the exosphere. The exosphere is the last layer of the atmosphere. The exosphere has two moons, earth's moon and the Galilean Satellites. exosphere is two layers above the mesosphere, and the mesosphere protects earth from asteroids and junk falling on us. The temperature for exosphere is 500 - 1000*f .
