Sir Francis Drake was born in devonshire, England. He was involved in a lot of piracy, and was He later saw the action in the english defeat of the spanish armada. Many people say that sir francis drake does not have any birth records but people believed that he was born in 1540-1544 because of later events that had happened. In 1589, In 1589. On January 28, 1996 sir francis died of a fever. Married Mary Newman in 1569. She died 12 years later, in 1581. In 1585, Drake married Elizabeth Sydenham. Elizabeth was the only child of Sir George Sydenham. After francis passed away Elizabeth married Sir William Courtney. Since francis didn’t have children, the name got passed on to his nephew.

He was chosen to be the leader of expedition. He successfully finished the journey and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth 1. At age 23, He made his first voyage to the Americas.In 1568 Francis was with the Hawkins fleet when it was trapped by the Spaniards in the Mexican port of San Juan De Ulua. He escaped along with Hawkins.
