Ionic- forms electrical attraction between anions and cations so that the positive and negative charges are equal, doesn't melt, dissolves in water, and has conductivity as a liquid but not a solid Ex. calcium and fluorine

Covalent- stable balance of attractive and repulsive forces between atoms, soluble in water, melts, but no conductivity Ex. Sucrose

Metallic- attraction between metal atoms that are delocalized, high conductivity, doesn't dissolve in water Ex. Mercury
