General Overview-

Nuclear medicine is a type of treatment that uses small amounts of radioactive materials to diagnose, treat different types of diseases, and help doctors get a visual image of what disease they are dealing with. Depending on what type of imaging or treatment is need, this can be taken in as in injection, swallowed, or inhaled as a gas.


Nuclear Medicine started in the 1950s, examining just thyroid diseases, but later progressed in treating other areas of the body by 1970s.
