The Basilica of San Miniato al Monte

By: Jenna Phelan and Audrey McBride

The Basilica of San Miniato al Monte is a basilica in Florence, central Italy, standing atop one of the highest points in the city. We are visiting this basilica on our last full day in Florence. There is a fee of $20.00 to enter, and unfortunately it is not covered by the Firenze card. It is popular, but most people don't actually know about the basilica. We want to visit to see the beautiful and historical architecture. Google rates this place 4.5 stars.

Fun Facts about The Baslica of San Miniato al Monte here:

  • It was one of the first Romanesque buildings in Florence.
  • No one is sure when it was actually built.
  • It was built on the highest point of Florence.
  • It is known to be one of the most beautiful churches in all of Italy.
