Amphibians are some pretty awkward creatures. they have several distinct differences with reptiles: they don't have scales, they have gills and lungs, and they don't flick their tongue out to smell the air. The  term "amphibian" refers to the word "double life", because they live on both land & in water. people often used think that there wasn't a difference between reptiles & amphibians. but trust me-- there is. salamanders, with about 500 types. then there's frogs & toads, with about 4,000 different species. this has officially been my tackk on amphibians :) next time!!
