Facts About the Basin Depot:
The Basin Depot is located on the Sand Flats of the Basin Depot and on Little Bonnechere.It was the supply house for the vast west timber.It was commonly known as the most important Lodging Depot.When the archaeologists found the site there was hundreds of fragments of glass window pane spread among the site.For more than a century people built storehouses,stables,blacksmith shops,bunk houses,root cellars,and cabins.
This writing slate may have belonged to a child, as standard school equipment. A stylus or piece of chalk would have been used to write or draw upon it.
Some of the metal found includes an iron ring, a broken axe file, some fence staples, square nuts, some cartridge pieces, small pieces of lead foil, a piece of sheet tin and wire mesh.
