In the Early 1750's

French expansion into the Ohio River Valley France repeatedly brought armed conflict with the British Colonies. The French wanted this land so they could connect their Canadian land with the Mississippi Valley. "They captured the British possession of Minorca in the Mediterranean in 1756. After 1757 the war began to turn in favor of Great Britain." According to "history.state.gov , British forces defeated French forces in India, and in 1759 British armies invaded and conquered Canada."
