What is an Anxiety Disorder? An anxiety disorder is a serious mental illness. For people with anxiety disorders, worry and fear are constant and overwhelming, and can be crippling (Google Feedback).

The Myths

  1. A way to get rid of anxiety is to snap a rubber band on your arm every time you think of that thought.
  2. If you panic to much, you will pass out.

The Reality of those Myths

  1. Myth #1 Actually, snapping your arm only make the problem worse because studies have shown that the more you try not to think about the problem, the more you actually are thinking about it, so with that said this technique is useless.
  2. Myth #2 - Fainting is most of the time caused by low blood pressure not over the top panicking.

The ADAA (Anxiety and Depression Association of America) really showcases that most of the myths about anxiety are really proven to be untrue or false information. The webpage lets their audience know the truth in a very straight forward tone, which is a good thing.
