NEW IPAD ROLLOUT
The new iPad roll out will happen over the summer. The students will be taking their iPad home on the last day of school just as they did last year. The transfer from their old iPad to their new iPad Air4 will take place over a week's time during the last part of the summer. The exact dates are not yet specified.
A change will be made to the insurance policy. Although, the details have not yet been worked out. There also has been discussion about case options for the iPad. But, no decisions have been made about that yet either.
At this point, it is proposed that staff will keep their same laptop for another year. But, we will be getting the new iPad Air4 like the students....over the summer. More details about this process will be forthcoming from administration. Start thinking about backing up your iPad so you can retrieve what you want to save on your new device.
We discussed using Common Sense Media Lessons. Next year, there will be a concrete plan at each grade level.
Locking A Student into One app.
You now have a solution for those extreme cases when a student just won't stay focused on the app he/she is supposed to be using in class. Please know.....this should only be used for those extreme cases.
See Ward.....if you need help.
Here are the steps......................
passcode(You need to make one up that the student does not know so only you can allow them to leave the one app. DO NOT FORGET THIS PASSCODE.)
open the app you want to lock them into
triple click home button
start (up in the right corner)
THAT APP IS LOCKED
triple click home button to end
put in THAT passcode you made up
Marybeth collected ideas for improvement ideas to send to eBackpack. We'll see what they have to say.
Some students are having issues with storage space that seems to be free, but isn't. There is a solution. It's called ifunbox. Please see your tech liaison if you have a student whose iPad says they have a lot of pictures, but they really don't.
We're planning a tech night for the beginning of next school year.
This event is in the planned stages. It will look similar to our PA night a couple of years ago and, for those who remember, the Art and Tech Fair back in the early 2000's.
If you are interested in hosting a session to share something cool you are using or doing, please see your tech liaison. Get involved to make this a good night of positive PR for Elizabeth Forward! Look for more information coming your way before the end of the school year.
This idea came out of a discussion about how the start of next school year will look. Now that we've had almost 2 years of our 1:1 implementation, we are realizing that new needs are arising while some old needs seem obsolete. Some great ideas are being shared. If you have any ideas, please share them with your tech liaison.
