Six Principles of Design


Balance design is when graphics don't overpower the text, meaning that each side has the same thing on it. It's symmetric, and it's balanced.

Proximity/ Unity

This is the distance between the design. It is used to demonstrate a relationship between the elements of the design.


Examples would be, the text giving the location, date, time, and cost of an event. And it would all be centered on a flyer.

Repetition/ Consistency

This would be repeated fonts, color schemes, or graphics.


When light and dark are beside each other and they stand out.

White Space

It is the blank or negative space on a page. It doesn't have to be white at all.
