Introduction to the Arts and History of China

May 26 - June 8, 2015

This experiential learning course will focus on how people of diverse ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds develop their identities, relationships, and cultural competence in a multicultural society. We will examine ways of dispelling preconceptions, stereotypes and prejudices to be more open to learn about cultures other than our own and enhance our intercultural competence. Throughout the program, students will gain a better understanding of the complexity and dynamics of identity development and cultural diversity in China by examining changes in history, religion, and cultural values and traditions.
