The United States abandoned its democratic ideals in the pursuit of foreign colonies and territories during the late 19th century.
The United States treated all the African americans and Chinese men and Indians poorly while the whites were treated equally. This goes against the core democratic values
Social Darwinism was a factor of the Imperialization of other territories. Whites were believed to be the dominant race and when we invaded the Philippines, the Filipinos were thought to be animals.
One of the core democratic values of the United States is life; People should be able to live without fear of death or danger. When we imperialized other places, those citizens had to fear for their lives and the democratic values were demised.
