Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel born in August 19, 1883 also known as Coco Chanel was a french fashion designer and founder of the Chanel Brand. A high fashion creator, Chanel's influence was more than couture clothing. Her brand was in jewelrey, handbags, and fragrance, she is the only fashion designer listed on Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people of 20th century.
The Chanel Family did not have any money she had two sisters and two brothers. No one knew how to spell Chanel so the mayor improvised and recorded it with an "s" making it Chasnel. When Coco was twelve her mother died of tuberculosis and her father disappeared. School vacations were spent with relatives Coco and her sisters were sent to an orphanage and her brothers were to sent to work on a farm. Female relatives and nuns at the orphanage taught Coco to sew later when Coco was eighteen she left the orphanage.
