Spykman's Rimland Theory

What is Spykman's rimland Theory?

Spykman's theory states that whoever controls the coastal fringes of Eurasia would hold the power for world conquest.

What exactly is the "rimland"?

It is a large swath land that encircles the heartland, roughly touching oceans and seas. It includes China, Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, India, the Arabian Peninsula, and Europe. This area is, according to the theory, very unlikely to fall under any one superpower's control.
