How Will Your Choices Affect Your Body?

Your body is the most precious thing, so you need to take care of it and not make the wrong lifestyle choices. Some examples of the wrong lifestyle choices are tobacco, drug and alcohol use, and the types of foods you put into your body.

You can hurt your body by smoking tobacco for many years. Tobacco has more than 7,000 chemicals in it. At least 69 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are poisonous. Some effects of smoking tobacco are coronary heart disease, which is considered the most leading cause of death in the U.S, lung cancer, stomach cancer, kidney cancer, blood clots and problems with pregnancy.

Drugs, like marijuana and heroin, can have a powerful effect on your body. Marijuana can cause problems to the lungs and the heart, worsen the symptoms of bronchitis and cause coughing and wheezing. Also, it can reduce the body’s ability to fight lung infections and illness. Heroine can cause collapsed veins, bacterial infections, soft tissue infections, and even liver and kidney disease. But the most serious problem drugs cause is death. The National Institute on Drug Abuse estimates that 570,000 people die annually due to drug use.

You can also damage your body from the amount of alcohol you drink. Teens begin to develop drinking habitats, and these habits can last many years which cause problems to your body. Some long term problems of drinking alcohol is alcohol poisoning, liver disease, nerve damage, permanent damage to the brain, and possible death.  

The foods you eat can also harm your body. Some of the worst foods you could eat are bagels, soda, margarine, bacon, and doughnuts. These foods contain fats, and are high in sugar content and preservatives. By eating too much of these foods, your body can become obese, or you can develop diabetes.

Just by making one wrong lifestyle choice, can effect your life. One day you could be the straight A student who has their whole life planned out, and the next you could be battling a disease caused by drug, tobacco, and alcohol use, or even obesity due to excessive eating. Don't make wrong choices, it could effect or ruin your life forever.
