4th grade teams collaborate on week 1 of the 5 week Cultural investigation. The teams viewed a short video and were in engage in a discussion of the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration.
At the conclusion of the discussion teams participated in an alphabet relay activity to spell the country Mexico. Next they collaborated to find the country so they could use the letters to create an outline of the country. Lastly they created a word cloud using Tagxedo to reflect on what they learned.
Week 2 teams are creating their own country, giving their country a holiday and favorite activity or game to celebrate the holiday.
Above and below is a team that collaborated to create the country "Essyine".
Essyine is a country that loves animals and the holiday is "Animal Day". The Ambassadors go around the world sharing with every state and country that they should stop killing animals. The celebration begins with a cheer about not killing animals, and ends with a jump roping cheer to encourage people to stop killing animals.
During week 3 this team of boys created a country called "Crazyland". The favorite holiday in Crazyland is called "Cazy Day". The citizens celebrate Cazy Day by tossing the frisbee to each other as they hoola.
During week 4 the students viewed several short videos of the cultural dances of the cultures they investigated. Afterwards they chose groups and collaborated to create their own dance.
During week 5 the students below chose teams and collaborated, summarized, analyzed, applied and created a popplet utilizing their comprehension and understanding of the 4 cultures they investigated.
