Journal Jar

What is it?

Journal Jar is a creative writing tool that provides students with a new writing prompt every time they shake their phone. This is a valuable resource for students who struggle to find inspiration for their writing.

How can it be used?

Students could get a random prompt from Journal Jar and then be given 20 minutes to write a piece based on the prompt.

Evernote

What is it?

Evernote is a free-to-use, cross-device note taking platform. It is a program that allows students to take notes using Evernote on any device and then access those same notes on a different device. It also allows users to share and collaborate on notes.

How can it be used?

Students could use Evernote in a research assignment to break up segments of their research and share whatever notes or resources they find with their group members.

Flixlab

What is it?

Flixlab is a video editing and social sharing app. It allows users to edit their videos using a simple interface and share it with their friends either by posting to another social media (such as Facebook or twitter) or sharing it directly through the app.

How can it be used?

It can be used in the classroom to create projects or assignments that would include making a short video or podcast on a subject and than sharing the product with fellow peers.

Create a Comic

What is it?

It's an app that allows users to create comic strips about anything that they choose. Users are able to choose from a variety of characters, backgrounds and objects to include in their comic and can add their own captions or speech bubbles.

How can it be used?

Create a Comic can be used so that students will have a create medium to present their material through. Create a Comic can be enjoyable for students because it allows them to be creative yet effectively conveys content at the same time.

Woices

What is it?

Woices is an app that allows students to create audio tours of different locations. Users can mark points of interest on a map linked to the smartphones GPS and included audio, pictures, blurbs or video that pertains to the points of interest.

How can it be used?

Have students create a Woices journey while on a field trip. This will give them the opportunity to add content and take information from the field trip to add to their Woices guide.
