In Session 1 we figured out what the word robot means. We did research and listed different jobs that robots can do that humans may get tired of. We also looked at the advantages of using robots, like an advantage is robots never get tired of their job. But, a disadvantage is that robots may take a humans job. Finally, we labeled the different parts of the robot like the elbow, arm, etc.
In session 2 we used the Pitsco robot SAM. We taught SAM how to perform a task through the computer. We created a task for Sam to perform. We taught Sam the task. We taught him how to pick a ball and move it to a different place, then move it back again. After we taught him the task we had SAM run the task that we had created.
In session 3 we learned about touch sensors. We learned how to program the NXT brick. We created a program for the brick. And finally we watched the brick run the program.
In Session 4 we used the Lego NXT brick robot. I learned how and ultrasonic sensor functions. I created multiple programs using the robot, i taught it how to move around objects and how to follow me. The robot ran the program then we created more programs.
In session 5 we learned about how computer programs operate. We learned about a sound sensor functions. Created and ran a program using the sound sensor on the NXT brick. We watched the NXT brick perform the program.
In Session 6 we learned how a light sensor functions. We created a program using the light sensor. We watched the NXT brick complete the program. We downloaded the program and put it on the NXT brick.
In Session 7 we created a program for the NXT brick on how to pick up to ball. We taught the brick how to bring the ball to a certain place and to drop it there. We watched the robot perform the program.
A job associated with Robots is a robot technician with NASA. This job is associated with robots because in NASA you send robots up to space, in order to do this you have to know how to program and start them.
