MIS Weekly Update - April 4, 2015
I hope your spring break has been as wonderful and refreshing as ours! When we return to school next week, take some time to celebrate the possibilities of this final "season" of the school year! In just a few short weeks, our 6th graders will be heading "up the hill" and we will anxiously await a new group of Bobcats who will join our family for three years. Since October, our mission has been to focus on continuous growth personally and professionally to constantly improve MIS. A growth mindset does not end in June. In fact, it's a continuous process that will carry on within each of us beyond this school year. I recently read a quote where an educator said, "What I do with 180 days of instruction impacts the trajectory of a kids life". Not only is this a powerful reminder of the purpose of our calling, but it challenged me to look within and ask what will our team do with the final 45 days of instruction this year and the parallel preparation for the next 3 - 5 years. The possibilities for our team are limitless and I'm excited to see them evolve. I can't thank each of you enough for honoring me with the opportunity to walk alongside you.
Please take a few minutes to read the above article about informational text. In an effort to "dig into" our quarterly data, it's safe to say that student understanding of informational text is an area for growth K-12 in MGSD.There are relevant strategies to make this experience fun for students! You may see strategies you are already using or (like me) you may come across ideas you've not considered.
Back Up Files ASAP!!!!!
Scott Smith and Marsha Rhyne have sent several emails reminding all staff members of the need to transfer files before laptops are taken up (please look back over these emails if you have not completed this process). For all new staff members this is a tedious process...so please START EARLY!!! Marsha will offer another day in the coming weeks for you to meet with her during your planning period (or a time that is convenient) to transfer files to Google Drive or backup to an external hard drive!
