Teen suicide

Ignore and move on, it isn't worth it!

By: Jameson Hardy

Suicidal behavior is defined as a preoccupation or act that is focused on causing one's own death voluntarily. An intent to cause one's death is essential in the definition. Suicidal ideation refers to thoughts of suicide or wanting to take one's own life. Suicide is the third leading cause of death in 15 to 24 year old, and the third leading cause of death in 10 to 14 year old. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), reliable scientific research has found the following:

  • There 25 attempted suicides to one completed suicide - with the ratio even higher in youth.
  • The strongest risk factors for attempted suicide in youth are depression, substance abuse, and aggressive or disruptive behaviors.

If there is anybody with suicidal thoughts that are reading this, please don't do it. You have such a good life ahead of you. You were put in the world for a reason. It will be worth it. It will only get better. Just tell an adult, or a friend that understands. I stand up for kids that are being bullied all the time if I see it happening. Just don't waste your life. Teen suicide is a terrible way for a young person to end their life, and for stupid reasons. If you are getting bullied in school tell an adult.
