Odyssey Inspiration Project

We chose to draw the map because this represents all the places that Odysseus traveled to, to finish his journey. Throughout the journey he faced many hard challenges so we drew out key events that happened in some of the the locations. For the scene where Calypso held Odysseus and Hermes convinced her to let him go, we drew Calypso. Calypso held Odysseus for seven years total and bribed him with immortality. For the part with the cyclops, we drew Polyphemus. Polyphemus captured Odysseus and his men and trapped them a cave for a period of time. Odysseus used his cleverness to outsmart the Cyclops by changing his name and getting him drunk. Charybdis and Scylla killed most of Odysseus's men. Charybdis used his whirlpool to suck in the boat and some men. Scylla used her 6 heads and killed 6 people. On the islands of Corsica and Sardinia is where Circe comes into play. She turns Odysseus’s men into animals and then falls in love with Odysseus. Right by Naples is where The Sirens created an obstacle for Odysseus and his men . Here, Woman sing beautiful and mysterious music to lead sailors to crash into the rocks. Ithaca is where Odysseus home. He grew up here and eventually makes it back there after the Trojan War.
