Gemini 8

The main purpose of Gemini 8 is to perform second manned rendezvous with a unmanned target and perform the first docking between two vehicles in earth orbit.

                     

The technology or equipment used were: ejection seats, inertial navigation, propellants, and an 8-ball altitude display and radar among other equipment.

Crew members:

Gemini 8 was a sixth crewed Earth-orbiting spacecraft of the Gemini series, carrying astronauts Neil Armstrong ( he  was also in Apollo 11)  and David Scott. The primary mission purpose was to perform rendezvous and four docking test 410 km circular with the Agena target vehicle and to execute an Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA) experiment. Other objectives included parking the target vehicle in a orbit and performing a rendezvous with the target vehicle. Ten technological, medical, and scientific experiments were carried on board.Gemini 8 was launched at 10:41:02 a.m. EST (16:41:02.389 UT) on 16 March 1966 and inserted into a 159.9 x 271.9 km orbit at 11:47:36.
