The Armenien Genocide

What is a genocide?

What is a genocide? Well a genocide is when one group of people being mass murdered because of their group. There are 8 stages. Classification, symbolization, dehumanization, organization, polarization, preparation, extermination, and then denial. The community is put into groups then excluded, then gets propaganda against them, then killed, and lastly the group opposing the victims denying ever being a wrong thing to do. The legal definition is Any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group.

What caused the Armenian genocide?

The Armenian genocide was because a long rivalry and a little tug of war over land. The Ottoman empire, one of the strongest and oldest empires was at the time, weak. When World War I started the Ottoman Empire was weak many of the turks tried to save the remains of the weakened Ottoman Empire. The plan was to create an enormous Ottoman Empire that would spread to across all of Asia and its many different religions by force. The only thing that stopped them was Armenia. The genocide was meant to change the Armenians, as well as gaining the Armenians wealth and resources.

What occurred and what was effected in this time period?

1,000,000 to 1,500,000 people died tragically. Due to the aggression of the Turks the Armenians were starved and beaten, raped and murdered at the hands of the young Turks.

In the beginning 60,000 Armenian men were drafted forcefully into the Army of the Turks and were executed. The fear of an able bodied revolt from the Armenians was far too much.

On April 24, 1915 many important Armenians were arrested and then executed. that day was the official start of the upcoming genocide.

Next was the killing of civilians and weaker Armeniens by moving them to the desert of Syria. Hundreds of thousands of people were murdered by Turkish soldiers. The others died of diseases and injuries. Thousands of women and children were subjected to violence. Many were forced to change religion.

The last phase is denying the fact that there was such a crime. Most the Turkish people to this day are not taught or deny that it took place. Most Turkey schools doesn't teach this unit or about the time period. The few that do teach kids about this time, distort and change events that occurred to their favor.

1,000,000 to 1,500,000 people died tragically. Due to the aggression of the Turks the Armenians were starved and beaten, raped and murdered at the hands of the young Turks.

What is true.

The considerable amount of death that happened during that time period was horrific. The modern day genocide is started by a leader who convinces people that others are lesser than his or her kind. No one is lesser than anyone's kind and since we all bleed red and blood shed shouldn't be a solution for creating a perfect universe. The perfect universe is all the races United and together with no war and judgement.
