The Friar from the Canterbury Tales

This is the Friar from the Canterbury Tales.  He was a happy person even though he made his living from begging. (Lines 212-214)  He goes around traveling so everybody knows who he is.   The Friar has religious responsibilities like performing marriage ceremonies and listening to confessions. (222)  He wis well liked by everyone because of his musical ability as well, such as playing the Hurdy-gurdy. (239-241) He also knows how to fight, since it says he knows how to knock bruisers down and knows taverns. (243-244)  I believe this means that he has been in bar fights.  He is the ultimate homie.
