Toyota Yaris WRC
New brand joining the wrc championship
Toyota Motor Corporation president Akio Toyoda ended months of speculation when he announced the comeback of Toyota to the playground where they once were champions, the World Rally Championship. Toyota has been developping the successor of the famous Toyota Corolla WRC and Toyota Celica WRC since 2014 on different surfaces. They've also been testing the new WRC- car here in Belgium on the stages of Rally Du Condroz. Rally fans all over the world are happy to see the brand return to the field and to go head to head with Volkswagen, Citroën, Ford and Hyundai. However they all will have to wait untill the season of 2017 to see the Yaris WRC in action.
The car will be powered by an 1.6 turbocharged engine which will develop more than 300 HP. The car will be four-wheel drive like all other WRC cars and will have to be the perfect balance between power and reliability.
The car is being build at the headquarter of TMG Toyota Motorsport. This is an unique high- performance testing and development centre located in Cologne in Germany.
