About Victor Makras
Licensed real estate broker Victor Makras entered the real estate
field in 1976. By 1989, he became the elected President of the
4,000-plus-member San Francisco Association of Realtors. A year later,
he founded Makras Real Estate, where he acts as President and Chief
Executive Officer. Serving San Francisco and the Bay Area, the company
includes three divisions. The Sales Division handles single-family,
condominium, and small-investment sales. The Property Management
Division oversees single-family residences, lofts, condominiums, and
small and large apartment buildings. Victor Makras also maintains a
Marketing Division, which concentrates on selling and renting
Accumulating a lengthy history of community service, Victor Makras has sat on the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, the San Francisco Fire Commission, and the San Francisco Police Commission. As a current member of the San Francisco Employees’ Retirement Board, he assists in setting investment policies for a 15-billion fund. The additional board service of Victor Makras includes aiding San Francisco State University, the California International Relations Foundation, and the Modern Greek Studies Foundation. He also assists The Willie L. Brown Jr. Institute on Politics and Public Service and serves on the Mission Advisory Board of San Francisco City College.
Victor Makras supports a variety of nonprofit organizations as well, such as the San Francisco Museum and Historical Society and The Trust for Public Land. Particularly interested in helping children, he also assists Books for the Barrios, Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center, and Larkin Street Youth Center. The generosity of Victor Makras also extends to AIDS prevention programs and the Clinton Presidential Park Bridge. In addition, he aids educational institutions, including The Scandinavian School in San Francisco.
