1. Why was Jerusalem important to your group ?
The Council of Chalcedon had established five patriarchs, church officials in a particular region: Antioch, Alexandria, Rome, and later Jerusalem and Constantinople.The Council of Chalcedon had established five patriarchs, church officials in a particular region: Antioch, Alexandria, Rome, and later Jerusalem and Constantinople. The patriarch of Constantinople slowly increased in power also was seen as more important than the other eastern patriarchs of Jerusalem, Antioch, and Alexandria.
2. The reason for crusaders based on your group's point of view ?
Seljuks took a forceful hold on the Asian provincesa that belonged to the empire, which cut off must of their abundant source for tax revenue and territories which supplied food. After they Lost the battle of Manzikert in 1071 they were not able to help the people when Turks attacked them.
3. That effects of the crusaders on your group ?
The crusades, originally intended to save the Byzantine Empire, among other things, failed to do this and hastened its decline instead. The crusaders sacked Byzantine cities and eventually captured Constantinople in 1204. They then used Constantinople as the capital of what is called the Latin Empire, which it remained, until the Byzantines managed to recapture it in 1264. The Byzantine Empire never really recovered from this, though it held on for almost another 200 years.
