In 2013, OSHA found that 405 employees died at work; this is 85 deaths a week and more than 12 deaths every day.
According to OSHA, federal law does not require lunch or coffee breaks for employees. However, when employers are given breaks lasting between 5 and20 minutes, federal law considers the breaks as work hours that should be included in the sum of hours worked during the work week and should be paid.
The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) says that an employer must pay an employee overtime at a rate of at least one and one-half times an employee's regular pay after 40 hours of work in a workweek.
