In session one we learned about a double helix ladder and the people behind the discovery of the double helix. we later learned about the different chemicals in DNA. Then we created the double helix our self.
In session two we learned about mitosis and the process of cell division.Later used a worksheet to make examples of different cell division steps.
In session Three we learned about dominant and recessive genes and how they work. Later we used the slides to help understand how they work and how they would look.
We determined the probability of different frog colors for the offspring using the punnet square. After that we randomly selected genes for frogs.We later mapped the genes.
In session five we learned about a dihbrid cross and how they work. Later we used them in a experiment. The Dihdrid cross helped us determine different outcomes.
In session six i learned about genetic engineering. Later we learned about advantages and disadvantages of this field of work. At the end of the session we looked at different scenes that could happen with genetics.
In session seven after i took the post test i learned about natural selection. Later in the session it had a simulation where you saw a population of frogs and how it responded to different effects.
Jobs involving genetics
One of the many jobs for genetics is a geneticist. A geneticist study genes and maybe in the future can copy and paste genes. This could help against sickness and famine. They also study and map genes passed down over time. This is called mapping genes.
