How to engage students with learning tools from a mobile environment!

Mobile Technology is an expansive platform to reach students in a flexible and fun way. Teachers, Parents and Students have the ability to engage with each other, share classroom notes, discuss assignments and find solutions to problems without the encumbered activity of finding time, physical space, and transportation.  All of the examples below are available for k-12 development. For the students in the lower grades that are not able to access and use the sites, then the parents have an opportunity to engage with the teacher in that method. For the upper grade students it is a channel to be engaged and stay up to date with the class when social pressures or time away is required.

Chalk is a tool for teachers. It allows teachers to build resources such as lesson plans, marking and assessment and collaboration.

2. How is it used?

Chalk works to aid the teacher in the daily tasks of the day. It allows the teacher to take attendance, monitor timeframes on lesson plans and eases the stress of classroom management through an online platform.

1. What is it?

mobl21 is a mobile application for students. To learn in an unstructured way enabling them to study at their own pace and style.

2. How is it used?

mobl21 gives students instant access to learning material anytime. This will enable students who miss the first day of class or have to be on vacation with family to keep up with the class. More importantly, it allows students to create their own study tools and resources to aid in their learning.

1. What is it?

Cert Point VLS is a tool based on the SAAS platform. This is a tool for students what would use it for more sophisticated purposes. The key with CERT POINT VLS is the ability to use the site with multi-languages. This will reduce the barrier for students who recently came to Canada and for the parents who are learning from their children.  

2. How is it used?

Cert Point VLS is used for mobile learning with all types of smart phone products. Students can track their grades, listen to podcasts, and engage in testing and surverys.

1. What is it?

A mobile site developer. This could be used by the teacher within a lesson plan to teach students about a topic. For the students it can be a way to present material. If a student were to do a project on WW2 for Social Studies Grade 10, then the student could build their interpretation of the material and present the material as their peers were viewing the information on their phones.

Lectora is an online platform to build resources, collaborate with others, and share the information. It would be used for teachers to students, or students to students. It is a method of gathering information and transforming it to ignite the passion of the learners. It is an excellent tool for teachers to display how to teach material and for students to view on their own time.

2. How is it used?

Lectora is used by creating a username and beginning to build work with a template. It is very easy to use and has the advantages of quick easy access that all students are looking for in their class.
