Black Welsh Mountain Sheep

These sheep are found in U.K., U.S., and Great Britain. The sheep are black and can have some red mixed in. The ewes average about 100 pounds. Mature rams weigh between 134 and 143 pounds. The ewes are polled and the rams are not they are known to have a very large set of horns. They are known to not get foot rot and be immune to fly attack. The average staple length of their wool is 2-4 inches and scores 48's to 56's on the Bradford scale. The wool from these animals is highly sought after because it's so fine.
