By: Jordan Scoville, Adam Ashley, Victoria Parham, and Mason Fitzgerald

"The Prisoner Who Wore Glasses" was written by Bessie Head. The story was written in a South African prison farm, during apartheid which took place from the late 1940s until the early 1990s. The main characters that are in this story are Brille and Jacobus Stephanus Hannetjie. The main theme is that when working together, the world can become a better place. Another theme would be don't judge people just by the way they look because mental strength is better than physical. An important quote from the book is "We want you on our side. We want a good warder because without a good warder we won't be able to manage the long stretch ahead."
