This picture is a Nebula. A Nebula is just a cloud of gas and dust in outer space. Life for a nebula must be very cold, since nebulas are about 100,000 degrees celsius!! Thats pretty cold.. I would be low, so the nebula wouldn't be more massive than the sun.
This picture shows a protostar. A protostar a contracting mass of gas that represents an early stage in the formation of a star. Life for a protostar would be dusty. Protostars are usually surrounded by dust, which blocks the light that they emit, so they are difficult to observe in the visible spectrum. I would want to be a low mass star.
Main sequence stars are stars that are fusing hydrogen atoms to form helium atoms in their cores. Most of the stars in the universe, about 90 percent of them, are main sequence stars. I wouldn't want to be way bigger than my sun, so I would want to be a low mass star. They spend roughly 90% of their lifetime burning hydrogen into helium on the main sequence.
This is the red giant stage. Red giants are very big stars high of luminosity and low surface temperature.. Red giants are thought to be in a stage of evolution when no hydrogen remains in the core to fuel nuclear fusion. Life was more than likely hot for red giants. I want to be a low mass star because they are so tiny and dense, and I don't want to be bigger than my sun. Many red giants have been found with planets surrounding them, so I think all red giants have at least one hidden planet!
This is a planetary nebula. A planetary nebula is a ring shaped nebula formed by an expanding shell of gas around an older star. A life for a planetary nebula is very short, they do not last for very long compared to a star, only tens of thousands of years. UNlike stars, they live almost 10 billion years! I want to be a low mass planetary nebula, since if i were a high mass planetary nebula, I would be bigger than my sun.
This stage is a white dwarf. A white dwarf is very dense a white dwarfs mass is comparable to that of the Sun, and its volume is comparable to that of the Earth. Life for a white dwarf is very long. These stars are incredibly dense. A teaspoonful of their matter would weigh as much on Earth as an elephant 5.5 tons. I would like to be a low mass white dwarf because, if I were a high mass star I would be more than half times bigger than my sun.
This stage is a black dwarf. A black dwarf is a white dwarf that has cooled down. I want to be a low mass black dwarf because if I had less mass than the sun, I would live longer than the sun. Black dwarfs remain hot for sometime of their lifetime, much like a stove burner. I think black dwarfs have planets but astronomers are looking at black dwarfs for hints of planets.
