“The books that help you most are those that make you think the most. The hardest way of learning is that of easy reading; but a great book that comes from a great thinker is a ship of thought, deep freighted with truth and beauty.” -Pablo Neruda
One of the best ways to be successful in your high school and college courses is to become an avid, fluent reader. Literacy is a multi-faceted area which takes into account reading, writing, listening, speaking and the use of media. In addition, new literacies include problem-solving, critical thinking, decision making, flexibility, and the ability to work collaboratively. The staff of Greene Early College encourages all students to read over the summer, and we look forward to discussing the importance of literacy and the impact that literacy has on our school community and on our local community.
