Wars of the Roses


The war of the roses is a civil war fought in England between the years 1455 and 1485.  The battles were small and had many years apart from each battle.

Who fought in the Wars of Roses?

These wars were fought by two people who laid claim of the throne in England.  These two families were the house of Lancaster and the house of York.  

What did the Roses have to do with the title?

The two houses symbols were roses.  The Lancaster houses symbol was a red rose and the York houses symbol was a white  rose.

Who won?

Nobody knows for sure who won the war.
