A pond is a small body of fresh water. Ponds are shallow enough for the sunlight to reach the bottom of the pond. A lake is a body of fresh water that is large and deep. The deeper you go into a lake it gets colder and colder. Fish and plankton live in the deeper part of the lake. Estuaries are water ecosystems with fresh water and some salt water. The water in estuaries are shallow. Birds also live in estuaries to eat fish. Oceans cover most of earth. Oceans are salt water ecosystems. Oceans are home to the most famous coral reefs.
